Purpose

This activity helps hitters learn to transition from defense to offense.

Setup

  • Attacker stands at net
  • Player B (or a coach) stands on the other side of the net and holds a ball just above the net
  • A setter stands at the net
  • Player C (or a coach) stands in the back row behind the setter with a basket of balls

How it works

  • The attacker jumps and pushes against the ball held by player B.
  • As they land, Player C tosses a ball to the setter who sets the attacker.
  • The attacker transitions back to the 10ft line, approaches, and attacks.
  • Repeat this 5-6 times and then change attackers.

Coaching Tips

  • The repetition of this drill helps reinforce the flow of shifting from defense to offense.
