Purpose

This activity encourages correct passing form and getting low, while also providing a conditioning element.

Setup

  • Line up half the players along the 10 foot line on one side of the net. Give each of these players a ball
  • The remaining players line up at the back corner of the opposite side

How it works

  • When the coach starts the drill, the first player without a ball runs forward to the net
  • The first player with a ball tosses the ball and the other player passes the ball back from below the net
  • The passer then sidesteps or backpedalls to the back line of the court
  • As the first player reaches the back line of the court, the second player in line joins them in running forward
  • As both players run forward, the first and second players on the opposite side of the net toss them the ball
  • This repeats until every player in line has passed the ball with every player on the opposite side of the net

Coaching Tips

  • Emphasize proper passing form and getting low on the pass.
