Purpose
To practice receiving a ball from one direction and setting the ball in another direction, as would happen in a game situation.
Setup
- Divide players into groups of 3. Give each group a ball. Have the groups spread out at least 8-10 feet apart.
- Each group of players should stand in a triangle about 10 feet apart.
- One player from each group should be designated as the first tosser, the setter, and the hitter.
How it works
- The tosser tosses the ball to the setter to simulate a pass.
- The setter then sets the ball to the hitter location. The hitter catches the ball and gives it back to the tosser.
- After 10 balls, have players rotate roles.
Coaching Tips
- As players get more confident, ask them to set the ball at different heights or to push the set further.
